Most professionals have worked on something that never ended up going live, or failed once it launched, which can be demoralizing and often lead to the mindset of “we wasted time”. In this workshop, participants will learn to assess why something didn’t launch or failed after launching, what they still have control over, and how to repurpose and learn from work already completed. After the learning portion, participants will, in small groups, put themselves in the shoes of product leaders for hypothetical products that hit some sort of failure or changing market conditions. Using what they learned, they’ll propose a pivot for the product and business and set new goals to move forward. This is an especially important skill to have as many PMs are facing changing market conditions and customer needs, as well as company resourcing, which can affect their roadmaps.
There are 3 learning outcomes:
-Identify why a product or product launch failed
-Identify what you can control in moving forward
-Develop a new roadmap and strategy, reusing as much previously completed work as makes sense
